The snap-action disc is a bimetal element that is sensible to the temperature with the typical characteristic to change immediately its curvature in function of temperature. Produced in a wide range of forms, dimensions and mechanical or physical specification it is the active element of many devices as: overload protectors, thermostates, doors block, valves, intermittent plugs, automatic breakers, flashers, overload temperature swichs, etc.

The immediate change of the curvature at the snap temperature makes the disc a safe solution for an immediate mechanical and electrical commutation. Bimetal discs can operate without sparks accordingto EMC standards for the reduction of emission of radio distrubs.
